embrace the cleanliness inside and out.🫧
السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
How are YOU doing?
Alhamdulillah, I’m happy to say I’ve fully recovered from my cold and I’m feeling full of energy again!
I’m excited to bring you a fresh episode today, and I hope you’re enjoying this lovely Sunday afternoon.
When paired with the teachings of Islam, the clean girl aesthetic takes on even deeper meaning to me.
There’s truly nothing like the feeling of being clean, both inside and out.
The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) taught us that cleanliness is half of our faith.
This concept extends beyond just physical cleanliness; we must also strive to keep our minds and hearts pure.
This involves being mindful of our words and actions, avoiding anything that could harden our hearts.
I like to think of it this way: our bodies house our brains and hearts, and the more effort we put into cleansing our inner selves, the more it will reflect on the outside.
When our hearts are pure, the light, or noor, on our faces will shine brightly.
We are like mirrors, reflecting what’s inside us to the outside world.
Good hygiene is crucial in boosting our daily productivity.
Personally, whenever I’m in a rut or not feeling my best, the first thing I do is freshen up.
This small act, along with tidying up my surroundings, does wonders for my mood and productivity.
Since 2021, my friend Sumaya has noticed that I need to feel “clean” before I can start anything.
Sometimes, I go to great lengths to achieve this, like cutting my hair.
Athough I wouldn’t recommend doing that yourself, as I’ve ended up with some uneven sections!
With only four months left until 2025 (and two months and two days until I turn 21—how wild is that?), I’m committing to improving both my internal and external cleanliness.
Taking care of yourself really does make a difference.
Here are a few tips I’m planning to incorporate into my routine:
1. Perform wudhu regularly, especially before each prayer. It’s a way to purify ourselves both physically and spiritually.
2. Use a miswak. The Prophet (PBUH) emphasized the importance of oral hygiene and would use a miswak before every prayer.
3. Keep your nails clean and trimmed. I like to cut my nails on Fridays, which helps me maintain a consistent routine.
4. Take care of your gut health. I’ve been slacking on this, but gut health is essential for overall well-being. Poor gut health affects everything, and we really are what we eat. I’m planning to research this extensively and gradually cut out ultra-processed foods (even though they’re so convenient and tasty).
I’ll share my findings on gut health in a future episode.
I hope you’re enjoying these mini-newsletters as much as I enjoy writing them!
If you have any topic suggestions, I’d love to hear them.
Have a wonderful week.
Barakallah feek,
Amal
