Reset to Appreciate our Healthđź’ź
achoo 🤧

Assalamu alaikum girl,
How’s life treating you?
I’ve caught that awful cold going around, and it hasn’t been the best.
Today’s topic is health, something we all tend to take for granted.
When we’re stuffed up, we really appreciate the simple act of breathing through both nostrils.
But once we’re better, we quickly forget how blessed we are.
Working in a hospital has opened my eyes to how much people struggle.
I work on a renal unit with patients who have kidney problems, and they often need dialysis three times a week.
This means they spend hours hooked up to machines just to stay alive.
Their schedules are dominated by these treatments, leaving little room for the things we take for granted, like spontaneous plans or long trips.
Travel becomes a nightmare.
The costs for dialysis sessions are through the roof.
The burden isn’t just financial; it’s emotional and physical too.
These patients often endure fatigue and discomfort, making everyday tasks a challenge.
This experience reminds me of how much we should be grateful for our health and why visiting the sick is emphasised in our deen.
A patient told me on Friday “Health is wealth” and she couldn’t have been more correct.
May Allah keeps us in good health and keep us forever grateful.
Ameen.
Barakallah feek,
Amal :)
